The public library in Toronto is on strike, so I may be *forced* to read what I own! (Shocking.)

It's been atrocious for me, just 2 shelf sitters in the last year. I blame the Kindle. And the library. And charity shops.

Well, not doing so well with the bricks but I did finish Midnight's Children last week.

I am so proud of myself. I have two shelf-sitters. That's it. Just two. Maya's Notebook by Allende, and Biting The Sun by Tanith Lee. Surely, I can get to these fairly soon and start anew! New year! New goals! Read 'em as you buy 'em. Have one back-up book at a time and it won't become a shelf-sitter. Use the library often. I can do this! How about you all?

Due to my love of buying cheap used books by the armloads I have whole shelves of shelf-sitters. I am going to try to read at least two them a month for the next year.

That's amazing, Kivrin! I'm jealous. I don't even want to count how many shelf sitters I have--it would be too depressing. I'm going to try to cut back on the book acquisition in 2014, but it's hard--there are so many amazing books out there. Seeing them all on Goodreads doesn't help! I think the main thing for me is just to do more reading so I can get through everything.

When I started my blog last month, which I guess is about reading these 'shelf sitters' I had 104. I've read a few books, but I've also gained a few over Christmas, so I doubt that number has moved much. Definitely a hard New Year's resolution. No book buying. I mean, that was the kind of resolution I made last month but I got around it in a way by buying 'presents' for my husband!

Thanks, GingerCat. I'm jealous of your GR reading challenge. You surpassed your goal by almost double!

Thanks, Kivrin. I think it was all the poetry books--I became a poetry-reading machine this year, and those books are shorter. :)

I read a ton of poetry too, GingerCat, and short story collections! Since I last posted in this thread, I have to confess, my shelf-sitters jumped up to seven!
