As the threads in this section remind us, the life of writing or editing is all too often characterized by writer's block, rejection, lack of inspiration, nitpicking, discouragement, and self-doubt, among other fun things. But every once in a while, the stars are aligned just so and something great happens: we get a sought-after contract, we publish our first piece, we win an award for something we wrote...

I thought we could use a place to brag about these victories and puff out our chests a bit, as well as support and congratulate each other. Don't make me hold a gun to your heads...tell us your good news!

(This thread was inspired by Chicklit moderator cat, who recently had her first article accepted by a major daily newspaper! Go cat! We'll be expecting the URL once it's published...)

Thanks, deborah! But now I'm embarrassed that I, er, didn't exactly wait for the thread to open to start with the bragging. The URL will be TK in a couple of weeks when the article comes out!

Now I'm going to brag, mostly because I can't believe that it's happened and not because I think it's particularly bragworthy or anything.

A year or so ago, I wrote a piece for Boobtoob.net about how I was obsessed with Degrassi as a kid. Now Pat Mastroianni is linking to the piece from his site (Pat played Joey Jeremiah). Every time I think about it I giggle.

Here's the URL if anyone's interested: http://patmeup.com/press/press6.htm

That is too funny, Sars!

I bet he combs the net looking for evidence of his past "glory."

Sars, having met Pat M. in high school, I can totally see him linking your article.

Ha. The kids used to sit around and watch their own show on television. Ha.

And cat, way to go!

Hurrah for cat!

Sorry about the delay, I have been living through the busiest few weeks of my life!

Sars, how oddly cool that Pat M. linked your article.

I haven't gotten anything published but a local restaurant thought enough of my dinner theatres (I write and direct 'em) to contract my production company (split pea productions) to do 6 performances there. Usually we have to book a hall and do all the promotion ourselves but this time they are looking after all the crap and we just have to show up and perform. Whoo hoo!

ms. strident, that's great! It must feel almost like a luxury not to have to do all the scutwork related to putting on and promoting a performance. Good work!

Thanks Deborah, it is a great luxury. Now if I can only find a way to write the scripts in my sleep...
