Okay, I get to brag: back in September I was accepted as a reviewer for PopMatters , and my pieces have begun appearing.

I started writing for an Irish website, Pushie.com , today. You'd be surprised how many articles you can churn out on zero sleep (or, at least I was). It's probably gauche to even say this, but the nice thing about this gig is that it pays really well -- enough that I may soon consider myself a proper writer.

Also, I'm now helping Deborah moderate the Journalling forum -- yay! I'm so excited to be a part of ChickLit.

Wow, great job everyone!

Here's my brag: I just won first place in a writing competition at Abundance Magazine. I just found out yesterday.

Wow, WriterGirl! That is so cool. I'm rushing right over there to look for your work!

Weetabix, congrats!

I just found out that a book I co-authored (in 5 weeks) won an award. I have no idea what the award was for - probably presentation - but it's still pretty cool that my first published (paid) effort won an award for something.

I should be more excited about being a published author, but after the first Whoooo! of seeing my name on the cover, life just kinda kept on.

I have a brand-spanking-new Hissyfit up. Also, you all saw my book bundle--thanks for letting me write it, deborah.

I've also landed a couple of regular freelance gigs (one at a magazine at which a friend is an editor, another at an online review site: they want me to cover food and lodging in Napa and Sonoma!), and my new job at a food and travel magazine will give me the opportunity to do some writing. So, all in all, I feel like I'm getting a lot of chances to write, and it feels great for a change.

I was going to post the URL for my Washington Post article, which came out a couple of weeks ago, but I can't get to it for some reason at the moment.

cat, I loved your Hissyfit, I've been meaning to drop you a note. Congrats on that! And as for the Book Bundle and "letting" you write it, well, you twisted my arm.

Not.

Covering food and lodging in Napa and Sonoma sounds rough. Need a hand?

And congrats della femina! I liked your article in Pushie (as someone who wears little other than black).

I suppose this is a brag of sorts:

After several months of a) sitting on my duff, and b) collecting articles and doing research, I just launched my site ( http://www.schmeiser.com/ ), which actually features original content, updated near weekdaily.

I feel like I should send out birth announcements!

It looks great, sobell! I've always been very impressed by your writing (as you know, since I procured your skills for Girly International), and your website is just as impressive.
