Wow! Good for you, della. That sounds like a great job. And that's really cool, Bear.

I'm kind of amazed with the company I'm keeping here.

I'm going to do a bit of bragging. My friend invited me to read at her cd release party in Ottawa in February. She's going to pay for my travelling expenses. And the first press page went up for the anthology that an essay of mine is in (it comes out next Mother's Day).

Sars: that's great! I'm so pleased it finally arrived. Sorry it was only a wee mention...

Okay, this is less a brag and more an excited squeak, but...I'm interviewing David Sedaris in two weeks! His new book is being published here soon (I get to review it too) and he's coming to Dublin. So if any fans have any questions they think I should ask him, please mail me!

Also, last week I took part in the TV show I mentioned somewhere above. It was just a dry run so it won't be aired, but hopefully they'll ask me back again. Anyway, it was great fun, although the makeup room was a bit terrifying. I'm very pale, and wear very little makeup apart from smudgy black eye liner and clear lip gloss (thank you, Kiehl's Lip Balm), and lots of makeup really doesn't suit me. The pancake-caked make up artist kept saying things like 'ooh, some brown eyeshadow' and 'I think some bright red lipstick' (which would, I assure you, make me look like a consumptive child on a day out to the circus) and I didn't want to be rude, so I kept apologetically saying 'um, no thanks, honestly'. When she suggested a dark lipliner with lighter lipstick I practically shrieked in horror, though. Anyway, she didn't go overboard, although the inevitable think foundation made me look v. creepy away from the bright studio lights.

Bear, that's so cool about interviewing Sedaris. I bet some Chickliterati may have questions to suggest. If you want, you could post a topic about it in The Bookworm.

Sars, I was going to do that anyway, as a thank-you surprise for you! It means the book won't be back for a few weeks (the interview's on either the 1st or 2nd of February), but I trust that's okay...
