TraceyB, I saw the trailer for that at the movies this weekend and it looks like a fun movie. Love Frances McDormand.

I haven't seen it myself, but a co-worker who has not read the book said she thought it was predictable but well done and well acted: "very entertaining", she said. I have to say, of the Persephones I've read, I wouldn't have pegged this one as the one on which to base a film. But I'm very excited to see this delightful press get ... well, some press! I'm hopelessly addicted to Persephones (and VMCs).

Yes, I was happy to see that at least one Persephone title made it's way into U.S. distribution. Would that there were more.

I just saw it - it's delightful. I've always just read it as a fairy story so I found the more serious tone and emphasis on the upcoming war quite strange at first, although of course they make sense. But the characters are well-cast, particularly Ciaran Hinds and McDormand. There are some beautiful sets and clothes. They did change one character in a way I'm not too happy with but I don't want to spoil it.

Me again - the Radio 4 Book At Bedtime this week is a popular Persephone book, Someone At A Distance. You can listen here.

"Book at Bedtime"?! That's the coolest idea I've ever heard.

My brand new Persephone Classics edition of Mariana by Monica Dickens arrived today. Hoping to take a trip to the shop later in October.
