There's always Rosamund Pilcher, but that's only if you don't want intellectual stimulation. Coming Home is particularly Cornwallian.

I'm not travelling to, but moving to, the south east of England. So can anyone recommend any novels written by Kent authors or based in Kent, preferably around the Sandwich/Deal/Canterbury/Whitsable area? Thank you

Terribly late replying - you'll have been and come back months ago, but I thought I'd just mention 'Warnings of Gales' by Annie Sanders about three women who share a holiday house in Cornwall with their children. It's a light read but acutely observed with lots of tension between the women, whose style in everything - particularly child rearing - is at odds with each other.

I am traveling to Budapest in a few weeks. Any good books about Budapest or Hungary I could read while traveling there?

Well, Arthur Phillips Prague: a Novel is actually set in Budapest, and he's a wonderful writer.

Hey guys! Any recommendations for good fiction or historical fiction set in Tibet or Nepal? I'm heading there next year and am once again woefully ignorant of culture and history.
